• Blind Spot UV looks great on black (or other rich solid background colour)
• A tiled pattern, either shapes or your company logo, can create a striking texture over your card
• For the greatest impact of Spot UV on your logo, consider different ways that the clear gloss layer can be applied
• Spot UV highlighting parts of a raster image (such as water droplets) can create an eye catching effective if executed well (but can look unprofessional if not set up correctly)

Spot UV setup is a complex process, we recommend having an experienced designer prepare your files.

Spot UV files can be set up following our general separations files article:Setting up press-ready separations file (Spot UV, Embossing, Foiling etc.).

Small areas and detail (smaller than 0.25pt line weight) may fill in/disappear when the Spot UV is applied - especially when reversed out. Thin lines might not print consistently.

The Spot UV coating is not as crisp and consistent as CMYK print. The CMYK colour print portion of this stock is offset quality with a 420 linescreen. (Stochastic printing)

No, actually some of the best and most creative designs do not have the Spot UV layer registered at all. This is referred to as "Blind Spot UV", and looks best with black or dark coloured backgrounds. Our Light Republic sample illustrates this well. The floral pattern on the printed black background is an excellent example of a black-on-black blind spot uv effect.

If you are looking for Spot UV on a different stock, such as one of ourPremium Black选项,类似的效应会使用我tallic black foil. Although this is not as shiny and is more costly, foil is available on a wider range of stocks.

We do not recommend full coverage of the Spot UV on both sides – you should order Super Gloss coated cards for the same finish (and more cost effective!).
